I just turned 14 and I want to do a triathlon. What training should I do?
Ok well obviously I know that a triathlon consists of a swim, then bike, then run. How does a swimmer switch into biking? Like do they dry off first? And how long does it take to change?
I just did my first triathlon (SF tri sprint baby) on a 20 year old road bike. I dont get the difference between a road bike and a triathlon bike. the geometry is so different and so are the components! why? which should i get for training and races in the future?
I want to take part in next years London triathlon but have no experience of training for such an event. I am reasonably fit - I cycle to and from work each day and walk for about an hour a day. Does anyone have any useful hints or tips on the best way to train? Also does anyone know of any web sites that could help?
I would love to start training for an Ironman triathlon but the swim may be a major obstacle in my training. I am pretty good at the run and bike however when I tried my first small tri-a-tri the swim was the most problematic. Any help in terms of training ideas/tips or stories for a beginner are encouraged. Thanks
I was thinking of getting a sports watch for someone I know who is going to start doing a lot of triathlon training. I wanted to get them something they could use for cycling, running and swimming that is a really great athletic companion but isn't too expensive. Can anyone help me here?
Hello, has anybody completed an ironman triathlon by walking the whole marathon at the end?
Who where the top male and female athletes in the age-group catagory at Ironman Hawaii this year?
I am an 18 year old guy and I just did my first triathlon which was a sprint triathlon. My goal is to do an Ironman around the age of 30 if not sooner. Should I work my way up spending several years in each of the main triathlon distances or should I skip straight to training for an Ironman? Or maybe some other method?
I.e., Zoot, Sugoi, Orca, etc.
Hey guys. I'll be doing my first triathlon near the end of June at the Hy-Vee Triathlon. I was wondering if you would be able to help me out. I'm looking to buy apparel for my first event. I don't know exactly what to get. I'm thinking compression shorts for swimming, a bike jersey to throw on at the transition, some cycling shoes and a helmet (obviously need that), a road bike, and perhaps some better running shoes (not that mine are bad, but they may be completely worn out by the race since I got them in November). Aside from asking if the stuff above is right, where would be the best place to buy some great, quality triathlon gear at an inexpensive price? I'm a college student without a job, so a need to stay within a budget would be great. I'm already spending $140 on the race itself, so I hope to keep some of the costs down without cheaping out on the most important things. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!
HI Everyone, My brother and I are planning our 1st triathlon next year. We have a few questions about gear, though. * Bikes: Are mountain bikes ok? There's not a big budget for triathlon bikes here. * What gear do we really need? We're feeling a little bombarded by the vast amount of gear out there. For first timers in a sprint triathlon, what do we really need? Thanks!
i want to do a triathlon. it will be my first one and i need a bike. i dont plan on spending very much money. what are some good bikes?
I have been toying with the thought of buying a motobecane bike. They are the cheapest road bike you can get and I dont want to spend more than $700.00. So it works very well for me to get one. Anyone think this is good or bad idea?
My son who is 8 wants to get into triathlons. What are some good bikes for his age?
do i need a triathlon suit or can i just wear my bike shorts. the whole time. (the swim)
I'm running my first triathlon in about 1.5 months, and i've seen a lot of different types of attire for the swim portion, different still for the ride, and even different for the run. My question is...Is there ONE piece of clothing to wear during the Swim, Ride, AND Run portions of a triathlon?
it is 750 swim 12 km cycle 5 km run
I own a Ironman Instinct wetsuit and a little water leaks in.. the suit seems a bit heavy until the water drains out but it doesnt seem to affect speed or boyancy... my question is..does anyone know if there is a triathlon wetsuit out there that is waterproof?.. im not sure of the new blue seventy or orca suits.
I'm starting to get into scuba diving. I found an excellent deal on a wetsuit but it's for triathlons. Would buying a surfing/ triathlon wetsuit be okay or do I need stick with a diving specific wetsuit?
I just bought a wetsuit for my first-ever triathlon, and I have no idea what (if anything) goes under it. I'm guessing that something goes under it, because I don't want to strip down to nothing at a transition zone. It's a sleeveless wetsuit made by Zoot, and it's pretty snug-fitting. Do I wear a tri-suit? Bathing suit? Sports bra and undies?
Looking for websites, blogs and free information that has been very useful for other beginners in training for a Triathlon.
I live up north, so I am looking for one to do on a treadmill, stationary bike, and lap pool (biking in the snow doesn't appeal to me). Where can i find a good one with explicit directions (mph, incline, etc.)? I don't like ones that say "bike with a perceived exertion of 5 on a 1-10 scale". I just want one that tells me what to set the buttons to on the machine and for how long. And, for swimming, how many laps, with how many seconds in between. I really want to get back into shape, and my aunt suggested I have the goal of a triathlon to edge me on. So if anybody has a good routine (or wants to email me one), or knows a good website, let me know!
Anyone have a good workout schedule for triathlon training?
My friend and I are just beginning to train for our first sprint triathlon. Any tips or suggestions?
I've just entered a Triathlon has anybody got any training tips / plans that could help?
I will be racing in a sprint- 750M swim, 20K cycle and then 5k run. I really need to improve my speed swimming and running... anyone done a sprint before and how did you train for it?
I don't want to do jumps, ramps or craziness, but longish rides (20+ km) on trails and single-track. I don't want to spend a lot of $$$. The big debate is full suspension vs. hard-tail for me. As to danisaacs point, I'm looking to spent about $1500 CDN ($1250 US). I spent about $1000 CDN fully loaded for my road bike, but it seems the mountain bikes are higher priced for quality (or demand). danisaacs: Can I really get a good bike in the $500 range without having to go to a department store/bulk sports shop?
i want to start training for local triathlon races, and i need help for that! if you have anything/anythink about that write me back!
I have this discussion with a buddy about doing a non swimming half ironman distance triathlon. It would have of course a 56 mile bike ride, 13.1 run but start off with a flat water kakak, instead of the 1.2 mile swim. What would be an equivalent distance to that swim? Has anybody done a tri with a canoe or kakak leg?
I recently did a half olympic distance triathlon and the training just for that made me almost exhausted everyday. Is it better to train in one leg each day or do all three together? And how do I prevent burning out?
I am going to race my first half ironman distance triathlon in early October, previosuly I have done Olympic distance. I am concerned about the nutrion aspect as for the Olympic's i just used Gels and Gatorade. But this race is a lot longer...any thoughts?
Triathlon consists of Swim followed by Cycling and Running. Time limit for each section.
Or even if you leave out endurance and stamina, is it the toughest human competition ? I mean because you really have to be in shape.
What Nutritional advice could be given for a Triathlete in competition and in training. to include food, drink and supplements.
I dont have a bike currently and was wondering if i should just get a one speed to use, or is that what everyone does anyways when entering a triathlon? I havent ever entered a triathlon.

I know what a brick workout is - two of the three disciplines in a single workout - but what is the origin of the phrase? I have heard everything from it being a man's name to the feeling your legs have when you go from a bike to a run?? Please help! With a reference if able!
I want the Platinum membership but I don't want to go in until I get an idea of how much it will cost per month.
has anyone else had good reports from this site ?
